Tel: 01292 476 758
There are no specialists of the condition in Europe and the group is affiliated with the worldwide organisation The Transverse Myelitis Association (TMA).
Established in 2003 we now have 40 members in Scotland and meet bi monthly in the Southern General Hospital. Dates of our meetings are posted on the TMA website (see above). Click on the St. Andrews flag for Scottish information.
The charitable objects for which the group is established are to

• Provide information and support to those with Transverse Myelitis and associated conditions and to their carers, friends and families
• Promote awareness to the public and professional sector about the condition
• Facilitate and support networking opportunities among members who are striving to ensure that the need for research is paramount to understanding correct diagnosis and causes.

To further the above objects the group will:

- Promote awareness to the public and professional sector about the condition.
- Assist with the printing costs and material that provides information about T.M. and the mailing costs of same to patients who have been diagnosed.
- Facilitate and support the networking opportunities among members.
- Promote and practice an anti-discriminatory policy.
- Do all such other lawful things as are incidental and/or conducive to the attainment of the objects.
- Raise money by means of fundraising events, donations or legacies, grants in aid from statutory agencies and other sources.

Membership of the group is open to all patients with Transverse Myelitis and its associated conditions living in Scotland, their families, carers and friends.
There is no annual subscription charge and group members are required to promote and practice an anti-discriminatory policy. The group is a member of The Neurological Alliance of Scotland and Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland.
