National Neurological Advisory Group Update April 2014

The NNAG held its first annual Learning and Sharing event in March 2014.

Delegates including Scottish Government, Clinicians, AHPs, NHS Managers, Third sector organisations and Neurological Voices, were updated on the progress of the NNAG and received a copy of the NNAG annual review which was launched on the day by NNAG Chair, Andy Wynd.

Michael Matheson, Minister for Pubic Health addressed the audience and announced that the NNAG would received funding for the next year to continue its work for Neurological Health Service Improvement.

The audience also heard from:

  • Gill Bedwell, Neurological Voice for the NNAG and NHS Forth Valley who highlighted the benefits and challenges of being a Neurological Voices representative.
  • Malcolm McLeod (NHS Forth Valley) who discussed the work of the NNAG in relation to gathering data to inform improvement work.
  • Callum Campbell (NHS Borders) who gave the perspective of an NHS Chief Executive Officer.
  • Craig Stockton who discussed the importance of involving the third sector.

Workshops were also held in the afternoon discussing specific conditions, functional symptoms, multidisciplinary team working and Neurological Voices.
